Lavender

LAVENDER~ is one of the first herbs I used as a kid and use for its medical qualities. I'd collect the flowers and sew them into a little pillow, to put under my pillow to help sleep. This beloved flower has been used for over 2500 years of recorded history. Although lavender is often associated with England and France, it's actually native to Mediterranean climates. Egypt, Phoenica and Arabia worked closely with lavender, which eventually spread into Greece and the rest of Europe around 600BCE. It's said Cleopatra wore lavender as her secret weapon to seduce Julius Caesar and Marc Antony. It's thought to be one of the top essential oils to bring, if you ever found yourself stranded on a deserted. Because of its vast array of medicinal qualities, it takes care of anything from emotional overwhelm, anxiety, shock or trauma, to relieve heat such as rashes, insect bites, sun burn, infection or inflammation. This wonder flower addresses nervous tension, depression, insomnia, postpartum, jet lag~ and the list just goes on and on and on and on! I love this one- she truly feels like an old friend:)
