OJAS Mandala


This time of year we have a wonderful opportunity get it right with our health. During the winter season as we approach Solstice, if we take time to deeply nourish and fortify our organs we have the opportunity to not only create deep seated vitality for the rest of the year, but for the rest of our lives. If we imagine the Solstices, both summer and winter, like the fulcrum on either end of a pendulum swing, we can change the direction of the swing simply by tapping the pendulum at its fulcrum. Right now, leading up to the winter solstice, (December to January), we're at the zenith of the pendulum swing. Filling our body, with deep core vital life force (OJAS) through herbs, food and daily practice, fortifies us, because our body is in hibernation mode, a natural cycle we enter when the sun is lowest in the sky.

Taking herbs like tulsi, ashwagandha, maca, Shatavari, Reishi, ho sho wu, licorice root and really high quality shilijit become powerful allies at this time of year, which ultimately get's our system ready for spring when everything wakes up.

I recommend simmering the herbs till the decoction boils down to half. Simmer cinnamon, cardamom and clove with the brew for a tasty Chai. Add your choice of milk -and a dollop of ghee and honey...
